Women's Basketball Has Three More Leaving the Nest

Alysa "SaSa" Augustin spent two years at HCC after playing high school basketball for WNBA legend, Sophia Weatherspoon. Alysa consistently exhibited tenacious work ethic and earned honor among her coaches for her eagerness to better herself and her ability to listen to constructive criticism with a great attitude. This fall, Alysa will be furthering her basketball career at NAIA Division II Warner University in Lake Wales, FL.

Sharaja "Shay" Collins spent one year at HCC, and her stellar performance on the court grabbed the attention of coaches from all levels across the nation. Shay finished 5th in the nation in scoring and led the state of Florida, Region 8 in scoring, averaging 22 pts per game. This past season, she earned recognition as the Region 8 Player of the Week and had 6 games where she scored 30 points or more. The highlight of this season was her school record-setting 40 points against Pensacola State. Shay is headed to NCAA Division I, Delaware State University, where she will purse a degree in Criminal Justice.

Fanny is an international student from Sweden who spent one year at HCC. She matriculated with a 3.9 GPA. Her proudest moment as a Hawk was hitting a game winner at the Hawks’ Nest vs St. Pete College. This year, she averaging 12 points per game and was one of the top three-point shooters in Region 8. Fanny is headed to Division II Florida Institute of Technology (Florida Tech) in Melbourne, FL, to continue her basketball career.

Earlier this week Lady Hawk Lauren Moore, aka Lo, also signed to continue her collegiate basketball career at Florida College, located in Temple Terrace, FL.
