Fall Season Now Complete, The Lady Hawks Soar Towards Spring with Accomplishments

The Lady Hawks recently completed their fall season with excellent results at four tournaments. They had strong showings at the Nova Southeastern Tournament, the Saint Leo University Hidden Duals, and the Barry University Invitational. Additioanlly, considerable preparation put in by the team led to strong showings at the ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) Regional Championships which earned players the opportunity to compete at the ITA Cup in Rome, GA. 

At the ITA Regional Championship, team members Esmee Andersen and Arina Gamretkaia placed first in doubles. This win secured their spot at the ITA Cup where they powered through the competition and earned top marks, finishing as the ITA Cup Champions in doubles.  Arina additionally competed in singles, winning again at the ITA Regionals, and bounding to the ITA Cup Championship match where she became the ITA Cup Runner up in singles.

A strong performance was also recorded at the ITA Regional Championship where the highlight was Alicia Gomez and Yoana Dudova claiming a bid to the ITA Cup by finishing in the runner up position in doubles. Alicia and Yoana moved on to finish strong, earning third place at the ITA Cup, keeping the Hawks motivated for their upcoming Spring regular season.

Head Coach Sarah Lytle says, “the energy within the team is building.” The Lady Hawks are preparing to take on the regular Spring season by maintaining the outlook they have built in the fall. When the spring season commences in January, the Lady Hawks intend to make their presence known as they battle for yet another state title and national level ambitions!
