Chris Springs joins the Hillsborough Community College staff as head women’s basketball coach, bringing with him experience spanning over 24 years at the college, high school and youth competitive (AAU) levels.

Following a stand-out high school basketball career, Chris was recruited by Press Maravich (father of Pistol Pete) to play for Division I Campbell University in North Carolina. After earning a BS in Sports/Fitness Administration, he returned home to Pennsylvania and served as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Division II Shippensburg University for 3 years. Over the next several years, Chris stayed actively involved in coaching at the high school and competitive levels in Maryland and central Florida. Most recently, he served as assistant coach at Division II Saint Leo University for the past 2 years, where his responsibilities included player development, offensive and defensive strategy, and recruiting. Prior to Saint Leo, he served as assistant women’s coach at Webber International University in Babson Park, Florida, for 3 years where he helped lead the team to its first Sun Conference championship and a trip to the NAIA National Tournament.

Chris is married to Michelle, and their daughter, Chelsy, is a senior at Saint Leo University where she is a standout player on the women’s basketball team.
