Ryan Valdes begins his first year with the HCC coaching staff as an assistant coach and
recruiter. Most recently Valdes served as the Vice President of the Midland Southeast
Organization. He coached the 2022 through 2025 class teams working in the
organization for the past three years. He coached Midland Southeast to their first
National Championship in its organizational history, working with over 200 players in
Tampa and the surrounding areas.
 
In 2019 Valdes coached at IMG Academy working with the Post Graduate team, and
high school Varsity Blue team. His responsibilities were with the infielders and hitters.
A native of Tampa, Fl and a standout for Alonso High School, he helped lead them to
two State titles in 2009 and 2011. In 2012 he earned All-America Honorable Mention,
added All-County and All-Suncoast honors in 2011 and 2012, named an All-Western
Conference honoree in 2012, and honored as MVP of the Hillsborough vs. Pinellas
All-Star game.
 
He began his collegiate career at Florida State University. He appeared in 13 games for
the Seminoles before moving to State College of Florida. At SCF he was a two way
player going 6-0 as a starter on the mound with five saves as a closer. As a center
fielder and shortstop he batted .295 with 29 RBI’s and 2 homeruns. From there Valdes
transferred to The University of South Florida as a two way player. As an outfielder he
appeared in 24 games, and as a pitcher he had 47 appearances going 15-5 with 9 wins
in his senior season and a 4.02 career era.
 
Drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2017, he played for three years reaching the Double
A level for the Altoona Curve. Valdes had 47 appearances in his career totaling 84
innings, going 3-3 with 84 strikeouts.
 
Valdes earned his bachelor's degree in Health Sciences from the University of South
Florida in 2016, and has started his masters in Entrepreneurship and Finance at
University of South Florida.
