The 2024 Hawks are poised to play gritty defense and fast transition volleyball. The team adds accomplished freshmen from Sweden, Slovenia, Poland, France, and two local stars. It makes for an interesting community as the sophomore class has players from New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Iowa, and various parts of Florida. Players to watch include sophomores libero Eimy Domenech, setter Cathy Porter, and OH Taylor Sass as well as freshmen MB Emilia Arvidson, OH Pamela De Jesus Tejedor, and setter Eva Rovello.
“This group is so talented top to bottom,” said Coach Larkin. “They came together in pre-season, found a sisterhood, and are committed to playing with one heartbeat.”
The schedule will challenge the Lady Hawks early as they will play opening week at FSW at the Battle at the Beach, which features three out of state, top 10 teams. Two weeks later, the Hawks travel to Texas to take on ranked teams from that region.
“These early season tests are necessary to play at a national level,” remarked Larkin. “This experience before starting play in the nation’s toughest conference is invaluable.”
Under Larkin, the Lady Hawks have reached the post-season 17 times and the national championships 8 times. With two more victories, Coach Larkin will win his 500th victory in his 22nd season.
Nothing will come easy as the National Championship game has included two conference foes for the last two years. Be sure to follow the Lady Hawks in person and online as they fight for victories.
