The Lady Hawks go 2-2 at the Battle at the Beach.

The Lady Hawks faced 4 national powers in Missouri State West Plains, Trinity Valley, Salt Lake, and Utah State Eastern.

On Day 1, the Lady Hawks started with an upset of #11 Utah State Eastern. The Hawks got 20 points from Pamela De Jesus Tejedor and 14 from Taylor Sass. Eimy Domenech added 6 aces, and Emilia Arvidson had 4.5 total blocks.

They then played #5 Trinity Valley. Down a set HCC had two set points to send it to set 5 but fell just short.

HCC was led by De Jesus Tejedor’s 22.5 points.

On day 2, HCC swept Missouri State West Plains to earn Larkin’s 500th victory. The Hawks were led by Eva Rovello’s 10 kills and 14 assists.

In the Hawks final match, they played a gutsy 5-setter vs #4 Salt Lake. The Hawks won the 1st and 4th sets before falling 12-15 in the 5th. The Hawks were led by Sass’s 18 kills and 10 digs.

Both Pamela De Jesus Tejedor and Taylor Sass were named to the All-Tournament team.

“We battled in every match,” said Larkin. “That’s exactly what we want from of our pre-conference matches. We wanted to learn and grow, and that’s exactly what we did.”

The Hawks are 2-2 and will travel to St. John’s River State on Tuesday before playing Pasco Hernando State and St. Pete at home on Wednesday and Friday at 6pm.
