Daniel Perez returned to Hillsborough Community College as Pitching Coach and recruiting coordinator in July of 2023 after two seasons as the pitching coach for NCAA DII Erskine College.

In his two seasons at Erskine, the team ERA dropped almost half a run, while walks per inning also dropped almost half a walk per inning. In the 2023 season, Perez saw the Erskine pitching staff finish 4th in the conference in least walks allowed, while finishing 5th in total strikeouts. After Perez's first season with the Flying Fleet, senior starting pitcher Allan Saathoff signed a free agent contract with the Seattle Mariners. Then, after the 2023 season, Perez saw two pitchers commit to Division 1 programs for their graduate years.

In his first stint at Hillsborough Community College, Perez saw the 2019 Hawks' pitching staff finish the year with a 4.12 team ERA (35th in NJCAA) and a 418/173 K/BB ratio. In the shortened 2020 season, the Hawks' team ERA improved to a 4.08. Then, in Perez's final season with Hillsborough, the pitching staff averaged 9.32 K/9 on the year, while walking only 167 on the year (26th in NJCAA). Additionally, from those three teams, four pitchers ended up moving on to play professionally, while several others moved on to DI, DII, and NAIA programs.

Daniel's playing career began at George M. Steinbrenner High School in Odessa, Florida. He then moved on to NCAA DII Georgia Southwestern State University, where he was a relief pitcher for the Hurricanes from 2013 to 2016. Daniel earned his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology in 2016, and then earned his Master's Degree in Sport Psychology from Florida State University in 2018.
