The Hillsborough Community College women’s basketball team is making waves once again, earning their spot in the NJCAA Region 8 State Tournament for the second consecutive year. The Hawks wrapped up the regular season with an impressive 17-11 overall record and a 9-9 finish in conference play, securing 4th place in the standings. Their determination and resilience have been key in securing back-to-back tournament appearances.
This milestone marks Head Coach Springs’ fourth trip leading the Hawks to the Region 8 State Tournament, a testament to his leadership and the strength of the program. As the 8th seed, HCC will face a tough challenge, taking on the number 1 seed and top-ranked team in the nation, Northwest Florida State College. The game is set to tip off on March 12th at 6 PM Central Time, promising to be an exciting matchup.
The Hawks have been powered by a strong group of sophomores—Maggie Lauber, Shayla Sandiford, Sophya Barreiro, and Masiel Reyes—who bring experience and leadership to the team. Their contributions have been instrumental in HCC’s success this season.
The entire HCC community is proud of the team’s accomplishments and is ready to cheer them on as they take on the nation’s best. Let’s show our support for the Hawks as they aim to make history in the NJCAA Region 8 State Tournament. Go Hawks!
